Committing to Your Vision of Writing a Book

Committing to Your Vision of Writing a Book

I can’t even tell you how many people a month talk to me at a networking event and slyly mention that they or a “friend” have always wanted to write a book.

What’s sad is that I know the majority of them will never follow through on that dream.

I add them to my list and make sure I offer my workshops or coaching offers, but it’s never the right time for many of them.

Why is this? It’s likely that they haven’t committed to the vision yet.

You may be sitting there thinking the same thing, “I’d like to write a book for my business someday.”

Take out the “someday,” and start planning now.

As business coach Tera Maxwell says, “The first step to manifesting your dream is to create and commit to your vision.”

Even if you’re not buying into the manifestation thing, you know that you won’t get anywhere with a project if you don’t commit to it, if you treat it like a hobby or a “nice to have.”

That’s why I would like you to step back for a moment and ask yourself three questions:

  1. What problem would I solve with a book?
  2. Who would I help?
  3. Why am I passionate about helping that person with that problem?

If you can get through those questions with some certainty, then you are already building momentum for writing your book.

Just think about that why. It’s so important to help people out, especially if we want to get to the next level of our business. (Which is NOT selfish. It’s ok to get to the next level. That means we can help MORE people!)

When you commit to that book, you are saying “yes” to all the things that come with it: building relationships, building trust, gaining new clients, seeing others achieve.

And doesn’t that make you feel amazing?

That book can help you achieve what I like to call the “Inner-Circle Vibe.”

What’s that? That’s when your reader feels like they know you, just like when you watch 8 straight seasons of a show on Netflix and consider the main character to be your bestie.

The Inner-Circle Vibe is super important because it builds the “know, like, and trust” factor with your audience. They feel close to you as you reveal your secrets to help them solve their problem. They feel like you care (and you really do!) about helping them with that problem, and they in turn want to work with you. It’s as simple as that.

All this can be yours . . . that sounds a little too QVC . . . but you can achieve this once you commit to that vision.

Building around the emotion of helping people will take you that much closer to the dream of holding an actual book in your hands that YOU wrote. You can share your ideas, programs, and processes in that book, attract clients, and help more people than you ever dreamed!

So what book are you dreaming about writing? Drop it in the comments, and let’s see if working together to make that dream come true is right for you!
